Basia block is situated at about 40 KM Southeast from district headquarter Gumla. It is surrounded by Kamdara Block at its East, Palkot Block at the west, Bharno &Sisai Block at the North and Kolebia Block (Simdega District) at its south respectively. This is tribes dominated block . Agriculture is the chief occupation of the villagers. Farmers depend on Monsoon for irrigation. So only KHARIF crops are cultivated. About 3 KM away from Basia Headquarter, there is situated BAGHMUNDA Waterfall. There is an ancient Lord Jagannath Temple which is about 400 years old . It is Constructed in Kalinga way of sculpture from GUR, BEL and URAD as raw material. Manufacture of Bronje vessels is developed here as small industry.
